I am trying to create an app which will run in Windows 8 and from the brief reading I've done it says it's not possible to re-use the same app on windows phone/tablet without changing the code. Although I have read that this depends on the app itself and how it has been coded and this will decide on how much coding needs updating. But I wanted to check if anyone knows with 8.1 coming out if any of this has changed? Can I use a windows 8 app on a laptop and tablet/phone?

i think it depends on what language you code it in i THINK (but im no coder just ended up at an ms event that was usefull stuff, coding, dinner, coding, useful stuff) visual studio 2013 can compile one setof code for rt/phone/x86/64 but it depends if its c# or jscript etc

So creating an app with VS 2013 will allow you to export 1 app for each platform? I'm also no coder so am starting from scratch as it were. I was looking at doing it in jscript and wondered if Visual studio would wrap up the app based on the platform I wanted it for (or just created a generic app which will install on all platforms). Or will I have to update the code for each platform and re-deploy the app.
