mdench Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Our mac mini server won't boot it sits at the apple logo with the spinning circle for ever! We have booted into Verbose mode and got the following: Bootcahcecontrol: Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist : no such file or directory Warning: couldn't block sleep during cache update Warning: proceeding w/o diskArb Warning: Kextd unavailable; proceeding w/o lock for And then it just stops we resolved this last time by restoring / rebuilding it and setting up profile manager, deploy studio, we rebooted it and bam its done it again... Any one got any ideas?
jallsop Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Sounds like its been switched off mid firmware update. Try plugging in a USB hdd, and then using the restore keystroke until you get to see the USB drive and try to restore from apple servers to the USB drive. This should then allow you to see the 'Macintosh HD' and check the files its missing are present. From there it could be a case of importing the files manually, if you can find another copy, or sadly doing a rebuild again. I'm not sure what that file does tbh.
mdench Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 nope no firmware updates were being done. Had been sat there not been touched for 2 days so restarted it as it was being slow.
