anapp88 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I need to know ALL the Compatible file systems for OS X Mountain Lion not just the one on which the OS is installed, however I have no idea where I would find the information.
seawolf Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 You need to be more specific to obtain a correct answer. Do you want to know the file systems that are compatible to boot 10.8 from, or those that it can read/write to natively, or those it can at least read natively, or those that it can read or write to using various 3rd party plugins? The way you've worded the question is kind of like asking "How long is a piece of string?".

I think FUSE is available for Mac OS X - a quick Google for "FUSE Mac OS X" should get you some information.
Arthur Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I think FUSE is available for Mac OS X It is... www.macupdate.com/app/mac/40156/osxfuse However, once FUSE is installed would S3, Gmail, Wikipedia, et al. be classed as "compatible file systems"? 1
dhicks Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 However, once FUSE is installed would S3, Gmail, Wikipedia, et al. be classed as "compatible file systems"? The original post had "ALL" written in capitals, so I figured he wanted every single option.

dhicks Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Compatible file systems.. List ALL, file systems not just the one on which the OS is installed. eg Fat16, Fat32, NTFS, ext3 HPS etc If you're trying to find the answer to a basic exam question, you are likly to get answers quicker by searching on Google than asking here. If you're trying to figure out how many file systems you can connect to Mac OS X then you could also try the "mount" command from the command line - that should give you a list of filesystems it will accept. If you're actually trying to mount a particular file system on Mac OS X then, as pointed out above, FUSE might be your best bet - there are modules available to mount most file systems you can think of. I don't know if Apple's TimeMachine counts as a separate file system or whether it's another file system with a bunch of hard links for deduplication - something to check, maybe.
