RM Tutor 4 and Windows 7

I've got a strange problem when installing RM Tutor 4 on Windows 7. Assigning the teacher control package totally locks out the keyboard, not even a num lock light, after it has installed. Uninstalling the RM Tutor 4 software didn't give me control back. I know Tutor 4 does work on Win7 as I have it on my workstation so this must be a hardware specific glitch on that computer. Anyone had a similar problem or a work around?

 

For the moment I am trying out Tutor 6 as we have a few licences - this installed fine with no lockout of the keyboard on the teacher computer and I can see Tutor 6 clients.

 

My real question is - is there any way to get a Tutor 6 teacher PC to see tutor 4 clients or do I have to upgrade all the client software (and licences)? I don't need any of the new functionality at the moment, just the screen view and remote power on/off that the teachers use mostly. I can see the tutor 6 clients from the Tutor 4 teacher software strangely!

 

Seems a costly upgrade just for those features that we use otherwise

I've got the same problem regarding RM Tutor 4 knocking the keyboard out when the teacher control package is assigned to a workstation. it appears to corrupt the driver. - I can remote to the pc- removing from device manager and re-installing doesn't cure the problem. From previous post I'm not unique - has anyone found a cure?

If anyone comes across this again, RM Tutor 4 tutor package appears to delete nskbfltr.sys from C:\Windows\System32\drivers\

 

Copy it back from another PC and everything should start working again (you may need to unplug/replug the keyboard).

Nice one! I've paid for a licence and upgraded just the teacher PC to get around the problem. Leaving the v4 client on the student machines allows most features to work anyway.

 

Neat fix though - well done for finding the root cause.
