TechSupp Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 If I change the name of a server install (its not running anything like dhcp etc, its just a PC with Server 2003 basic installed on it) would I have to run the NewSid utility as I used to do with XP renames?
plexer Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Why would you do that even with an xp machine? Just rename it in system properties and it will change it's own AD computer account for you. Ben
TechSupp Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 Habbit? Was told I needed to do it in the good old days, have seen the arguments for and against, but now on W7 been a while since I did it, anyway, didnt know if a server was any different. Its a liog story why I need to change the name but that advice sounds fine to me, thanks.
synaesthesia Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Nope, just do it One of many great things about moving away from CC3 for us was renaming workstations - bliss! If there's no services in place, go for it.
