MattRVBC Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Confused! When trying to open any USB sticks or external HDD's windows 7 is producing the following error. You don't currently have permissions to access this folder. Cant set security or taker ownership of removable media and therefore don't understand why this is happening.........
MattRVBC Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 I suspect group policy as recennt changes have been made to system services within group policy. Although there is nothing that seems to stand out!
MattRVBC Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 This was an issue Kaspersky enterprise and with the device control, it seems that when running under policy and this functionality is disabled you cannot access any removable media. Issue with corrupt local database.
aelewa Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Please how did you get around that issue? as I am having the same problem But it only appeared after installing kaspersky security 10 (windows 8 pro 64) and cant get it to work even if i paused the protection. didnt have this problem with windows 7 same antivirus. any ideas? thanks in advance
amckinley Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Are you able to change the permissions in Disk Management?
NPHC Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I too am anxious to learn the resolution to this. I have the same problem as MattRVBC with any USB or External storage plugged into my Windows 7 laptop. I have searched the various forums, which all suggest 'taking ownership' via the Security tab, which does not exist on my computer I know is not a native Wndows7 problem because the same USB stick works in my window 7 laptop from work.
