abillybob Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hey Guys Soon I'll be cleaning up and sorting out this mess of a network we have here and one step we really need to sort is to give all the students and teachers their own User Name and password rather than having a generic account for the whole year. We have Sims around the school and I was told that we could export all the people on Sims and export them as a CSV file so we can then import all the users from the CSV file into Active Directory to save me typing in each user manually. Can this be done and if so anyone know how I have tried searching the internet but can't find much and the school hasn't got any support so I'm pretty much left on my own. I would really appreciate it if you could help me out!! Thankyou!
Hedghog Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Depending on the server version you are using there is apowershell addition for active directory. In this there is a commandlet for installing new users in bulk and quite a lot of resources out there for helping you on your way. Be aware though the cammandlet syntax is very exact any typos and it will fail. Active Directory Cmdlets in Windows PowerShell this is a link to the technet pages for the above
Geoff Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I posted the answer to this the other day! http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/15674-bulk-update-active-directory-user-info-3.html#post984110
