Cache Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Afternoon! I'm looking into deploying the System Center Suite providing the initial deployment of configuration manager all goes ok. What I'm wondering is, those of you who have gone down the route of using the many components of System Center, are you using a single System Center machine, or do you have one machine for each role (such as SCCM, SCSM, SCOM etc). We're not a massive site and would rather keep it on one VM if possible, but if it's not I'll just need to expand the hardware a bit more before hand. Thanks
FN-GM Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 One VM for each. SCCM is split over 2 (one for SQL one for SCCM) 1
jamin Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 One for each here. SCSM, SCCM, SCORCH, SCOM, SCVMM, WebPortal, SQL X 2 and SQL-Datawarehouse. It sounds a bit over kill (and some rolls could probably be combined) But the data warehouse server is 4 core / 16Gb and still runs out of RAM while processing cubes. 1
sonofsanta Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Unless it's changed significantly with 2012, you can't run everything on one server anyway. Certainly DPM and SCOM won't co-exist. I have SCCM on one VM (with SQL), DPM on a physical server, and SCVMM and SCOM on another physical server (with SQL). Not that I make use of SCOM. Should get round to that one day. 1
