Windows 8 downgrade rights

I've got a client that purchased a store copy of Windows 8 Professional, tried it, didn't like it, and would now like to downgrade to Windows 7. The trouble is the machine originally shipped with Vista and I don't know what downgrade rights are available (if any) with a store bought copy. All I ever deal with anymore is volume licensed stuff. Does anyone know off the top of their head if this can be done legitimately, and if so, what the process entails to get proper media and keys? Thanks guys!

I don't know what downgrade rights are available (if any) with a store bought copy.

Unfortunately none, but they could buy a copy of StartIsBack for a measly $3.00 to essentially turn Windows 8 into 7.

 

Downgrade rights are included in licenses obtained through OEM or Volume Licensing and do not apply to retail copies of Windows. (Source)
