[sims] Moving SQL Database

I've not done this before!

 

I have a new SQL server set up. Is there a guide or list of best practices to follow for doing this at all? Even better a SIMs Guide for doing so would be great.

 

Any suggestions?

Supportnet is your friend for this.

When I did it I just contacted Capita and they sent me a straight forward guide on how to do it.(was at my last school so dont have it now).

Wasnt difficult at all.

It's explained in a few threads here. Get teh installable ISO, run it.

run any update ISOs since the installable version so the new server is on the same version as the live server.

take a backup of old server. (.bak file)

use dbattach to restore to new server.

open up firewall ports, set up mappings, copy over doc store and tell sims where it is.

repoint connect.ini

update sims.ini

test
