Android barcode scanner to log inventory

Does anyone use their phone for this. I have an app but it doesn't log the results.

We are actually looking for a software package tracking invnetory of smaller items at a school and even student level such as taxtbooks, athletinc equipment, scince lag equipment, and even 1 to 1 I-Pads. We want to pass the inventory assignemnt entry to the school level via bar code. Does anyone have any experiecen with this? We use Tyler system as a SIS and have a data dashboard program pulling form other SQL database systems.
