Dos_Box Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 (edited) I had a similar one that didn't really work (well, tbh it just didn't work). Whether I had a duff one I don't know. I just keep a big stirrup type pump in the garage now. Edited March 18, 2013 by Dos_Box
jinnantonnixx Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 (edited) Hmm. Thought as much. And for four quid it's unlikely to be high grade. When it's cold, dark and raining, you really do need a pump you can rely on. Perhaps an old fashioned pump with a Presta adapter is the safest bet. Edited March 18, 2013 by jinnantonnixx
shadowx Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 The glasses were ok last time, nothing special but you get the orange filters which are great for cloudy/dusky days, keep the crap out of your eyes and a set of greyish and bluish filters. Like I say, nothing special but for a few quid they're good! Up until today I used to ride a motorbike too (got a car now) and their Base Layer stuff was good, it looks like the same lycra type material as their cycling base layer vests there, at the moment I use the motorbike base layer stuff and a ski base layer to go cycling, makes a difference! Helmet im not so sure.... They also do motorbike helmets every now and then and although both types of helmets go through the same tests as £200 lids they don't have the same quality... Helmet safety is about more than just the shell, it's about how securely it fits your head, how good the straps are, how reliable the clasps are, how comfortable they are and so on... Worth looking but don't cheap out just because it's on special! (Plus last time they were all too small for me and just not comfy)
Dos_Box Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 I thought I'd just bump this as the offer is on today. I picked up a helmet this morning on the way to work. Not unpacked it yet, but will let you all know what it's like once I have. As regards the glasses, they are pretty good value and I go through a pair every 2 years. The lenses are polycarbonate and I've never managed to break a pair yet, and at teat price you won't cry if you do break or lose them. I use the yellow lenses for winter (they keep crud out of your eyes very well) and the dark ones in the summer month.
