mossj88 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Looking for a new desktop as the one I currently have is on it's last legs.. the criteria is below, budget is £400 although the less the better. 1. Should be capable of running two screens (1 VGA, 1 DVI) 2. Must have space for a wireless card 3. Typically used for coding work (Dreamweaver, FTP Transfers, Light Graphic Design), but also play Eve Online during my down time 4. Must come with operating system or be able to install one within budget I'm toying with this one: Quad Core 4.0ghz, 16GB Ram, 1tb Drive and a 2gb Graphics Card Or this cheap one: Dual 2.5GHz, 4gb Ram, 320gb HD Don't need any monitors, mouse, keyboard as I already have them. The first I think is a bit overkill but should future proof it, the second is well within budget but not sure if it will cope...
Arthur Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Here's another one that might be worth looking at (it already comes with a wireless card). Dell Inspiron 660 - £328.88 (more details on HUKD) Processor Intel Core i5-3330 Quad Core Processor (3.0GHz-3.2GHz) RAM: 4GB (1x4GB) 1,600MHz DDR3 (upgradable to 8GB) HDD: 1TB 7,200rpm SATA ODD: 16x DVD±RW Graphics: Integrated (Intel HD Graphics 2500) - 1x VGA / 1x HDMI Audio: Integrated (5.1 HD) Operating System: Windows 8 (64-bit) Wireless: Dell DW1506 PCIe Card Extras: 8-in-1 Card Reader Support: 1 Year Next Day In-Home Service with Premium Phone Support The integrated graphics aren't great, but you could get a PCIe graphics card... Radeon HD 6450 - £27.58 GeForce GT 630 - £43.96 Radeon HD 6570 - £47.58 Radeon HD 7750 - £70.52 The processor in the Dell is also faster than what you get in the eBay and eBuyer PCs. http://i.imgur.com/xb5Wgxt.png http://i.imgur.com/doj8KMx.png http://i.imgur.com/CnxdT9w.png Zoostorm PCs are typically noisy so I wouldn't consider them myself. 1
mossj88 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 So the eBay one was just using big numbers? I've got a graphics card that is not that old... So could take that out of the current PC.
