The Education Safeguarding Team have updated the Acceptable Use Policy Templates and supporting guidance documents for September 2017.

 

The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) document contains updated guidance for leaders and managers to assist them in writing effective and embedded AUPs, which are appropriate to their communities needs and requirements. We encourage all education settings to ensure that their AUP is fit for purpose and individualised for their context; including technology use and specific community needs. Not all templates or statements within the guidance will be required. Educational settings should work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure that all members of the community have clear understanding, awareness and ‘ownership’ of the AUP.

 

Key changes include:

- Updated guidance for leaders and managers

- Updated pupil statements

- Updated staff statements

- Updated template letters

 

Content written in green will require educational setting leaders, managers and DSLs to consider their own practice and amend as appropriate. For simplicity, the terms ‘school’ or ‘pupils’ may appear within the template, but we stress that it is relevant and appropriate for other educational settings.
