What Policies?

We have an AUP that covers use of the network etc and what users should and shouldn't be doing. However that is about the extent of any policies we have regarding computer use here. Everything done has been done by me but with very limited documentation.

 

What I am interested in are what policies other schools have, or what policies I am missing. For example, is there a backup policy that people implement? And are these policies passed through the SMT before implementation?

 

I would like to start having documentation of how I should be performing my job and have some sort of policies to work from. These can then be passed on to any other members of staff who need to know. I am hoping you guys could enlighten me on how many, or what policies a school should have in place.

Anyone? I was wondering about security access etc regarding physical access. I have recently moved out of the server room to be based in a shared office. I leave the door to the server room locked, but have found it empty and unlocked on a number of occasions. Does anyone specify who should have access to these rooms?

That was my opinion, but the people above me obvisouly dont see physical access as a problem. This has only happened a couple of times, but I want to stop it now before it becomes the norm. I want to get written documentation of my objections and this would be easier if I had a policy to backup what I was saying.

it's no problem. We had to get something like that sorted because we were having several people comming to us all at once with video cameras wanting the footage on their user areas NOW!
