To the OP, I think I just solved my issue. Here are the links that solved it. I did grab all the latest drivers for my new hd and just now I reverted to the previous Nvidia video driver and upon rebooting and checking out event viewer, the app pop up message appears to be gone. The video drivers I had and reverted back to match the link's drivers. I'll update this thread if I get the message again but this appears to be the resolution for me. Hope that helps.

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Win XP Pro and updated to SP3. I believe when I updated to SP3 is when I started seeing this exact same event viewer application pop up message. As I believe you experienced, I also hardly ever see the popup as it is too quick. But it clearly shows in event viewer as happening every time I boot to XP. If you click the "for more information.." link within the event properties, you'll see more info. In my case, it states the file name is ntdll.dll and not ATMFD.dll any more. Just curious if you have the same file name in the more info link. I also would like to stop the app pop message. I'm considering reformatting but would rather not as everything else seems to be working fine.
