When I was at uni in the 1970's, we used to like to print out ascii pictures, which were just outlines. Here's Snoopy by way of example. Our favourite, was a naked girl sitting on a stool, which I can't find at the mo. Twenty years before us, programmers were doing the same thing Click me.

 

I used to have the Mr Spock featured at the bottom of this page, and there was also a picture done in the same way, of Cyndi Wood, which again sadly I can't find at the mo.
