Website domain

I signed up with AFMU over a year ago to host my website. I applied for a domain name and registered it I thought with the host provider. The terms were for a year which would have ended on 10/6/2010, but I renewed my account in late September which extended my term to 10/6/2011. Yesterday I entered my domain name in the URL and up came a website that wasn't mine. Someone else, a company now uses my domain name. I contacted AFMU by email (they don't have a phone number--I tried Whois.com but no phone was listed for them) they replied that they would refer my problem to their sales dept. So far no other reply. I also discovered that my registration for my domain name expired on 10/8/2010. I thought when I renewed my account with AFMU that my domain name would be automatically updated or registered. After I renewed my account I didn't receive any new cpanel information to inform me that I needed to register my domain again. Further more I can't get into my cpanel anymore.

Do I still have rights to my domain name?

if it was expiring on 10th June 2010 and you didnt try to renew it till the september then its long gone I reckon.. You normally have about 30 days after it expires to renew it..

Thanks for the info. However, luck was on my side. The same day I posted the blog I got an email from AFMU that my site was up and running again. I entered my domain name in the URL and up came my old website. It's all good. From now on I'm going to make sure I register or reregister my domain before the expiration date.
