Windows 7 on Intel D945GTP - does it work?

Does anyone happen to have Windows 7 running on a PC with an Intel D945GTP board? A lot of our PCs have these boards, and apparently there aren't any Windows 7 drivers for them (although there are Vista drivers). We don't need to run anything fancy on them, e.g. Glass, getting a basic image will be fine.

The fact that the manufacturer says no doesn't always mean it won't work. I haven't tried it yet, but am aiming to do a Win7 deployment in the summer. Is it still possible to download a trial version of Win7 or the RC release, so I could whack that on it?

There's always workarounds which can work. However, if a supported configuration is not supported by the vendor, I generally wont move away from it in terms of support. You don't know what other issues it can cause. If you're not concerned about support then you can attempt to try and see if it works.

You wouldn't deploy Win 7 to a PC where it doesn't meet the pre-reqs (hardware), if you had a MSFT contract and there were issues with drivers which may be a cause, they wouldnt support you.

Not sure where you can download from now, if you have site, I can upload a copy for you (trial 90 days).

So long as it works, i.e. picture, sound, network connection, I'm happy - I've never actually gone to the mainboard vendor for "support" beyond drivers anyway.

No site big enough to hold it, could you post me a CD?

For the graphics driver, you should use v8.15.10.1912 from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Click here for more details.
