msiexec and rolling out via AD - Google Chrome for Business

Hi

Google Chrome 15 for Business now allows you to install behind a firewall by switching off Google Update at install. However you have to use the line

msiexec /i GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi NOGOOGLEUPDATEPING=1

How do I get GoogleChrome to roll out over a network using Active Directory as usually when I try to alter something I do a network /a install and alter the files contained within.

thanks in advance

Thanks - fingers crossed - 1st test worked OK. Anything to get rid of Firefox.

I am using GPO to control Chrome - but it's the firewall that is the issue with GoogleUpdate as it did not allow for proxies. Good eh?

It isn't the fastest install going - but if it enables me to get rid of that memory intensive Firefox I'll be happy!

You may need to add it in properties.

However, why not use the group policy objects instead? Google Chrome for Business - Google Apps Help

It's a long standing bug with the Google Chrome MSI installer. Namely that if you deployed it via GPO, it would take up to 20 minutes to install. This is because if Google Updater tries to access the web to pull down the latest version, even if it doesn't need to.

It would also ignore the GPO setting. (See the bug report below)

If you scroll down to the bottom, some kind hearted poster has already made an MST file for us, I'm going to test it when I get time but should be able to offer chrome now :)
