timbo343 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) We are experiencing a problem with nova T6 when we try to create a new Maintenance dataset on windows 7. So we load up sims (even with an administrator user this still happens) > Click Focus > Nova-T6 > select Load other file > select Create Maintenance Dataset > Give the new Dataset a name (in this case 99 October Update) and choose a start date (in this case its 31/10/2011) and an end date (in this case 20/07/2011) > Click finish and we get an error "12/30/1899 is not a valid date". Can anyone help me out on this please as its driving our timetabler mad. More info: I have also just found out that if we try to load a dataset, selecting "Load other file" > Load external Dataset and choose the file we have just created above - 99 October update.spl - it throws a screen up stating that the start date is 22/09/2011 and the end date is 30/08/2012. How can this be when we chose the start date as 31/10/2011 and the end date as 20/07/2012. Thanks Tim Edited October 20, 2011 by timbo343

Later in your post you referred to the correct year in the end date!
timbo343 Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 damm.. sorry, i meant 2012, ill post screen shots tomorrow, its not been a very good day. Ive corrected the original post... i cant edit the original post... dam. it was meant to say.. "and an end date (in this case 20/07/2012)"
Sivadam Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I was hoping that the post was right and that you had used 2011 in your end date. It would have explained why you had an error. Not sure why it would happen if you had the correct dates. It does seem strange that the error description says 1899 and that your dataset name contains the number 99. Try it again with a Dataset Name that only contains letters! It should not make any difference whatsover. But then again ...............
vikpaw Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Double check your system is using UK date format as your error message if you ignore the year is in US style, and this causes all sorts of issues in SIMS.
timbo343 Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Ok, this is a repost of what i had made a hash of earlier We are experiencing a problem with nova T6 when we try to create a new Maintenance dataset on windows 7. How can this be when we chose the start date as 31/10/2011 and the end date as 20/07/2012. I have made sure that the server and machines which i have been testing this on have UK date and time set, that was my first thought when i got the error message. Also, attached is a word document with screen shots in which might help explain the situation a bit.Doc1.docx
vikpaw Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 yoiks it looks like you got the y2k bug v.late we don't use maintenance sets here so can't be much more help. you might have to send your data in to capita / support and get them to recreate it. in that case ask and start sending as it could take a while.
iansimpson888 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Hi, Do you get the message straight away or doe it attempt to load the schedule? If so it could be a corrupt SPL file that was submitted to SQL (and stored in the DOCSTORAGE). Have you tried recovering the construction file via: Load Other File > Create Construction > SQL Dataset. Does that load up OK? Thanks.
iansimpson888 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 If you're happy to attach the SPL's for the construction and maintenance datasets I'll take a quick look.
Sivadam Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 (edited) Tim, Did you ever try to create a brand new Maintenance Dataset using different dates and a different name? If not then try it and save the SPL to a different location, such as a datastick or DropBox Folder!! If that works then close NT6 and then try to re-open with that new dataset! timbo343 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Sivadam, I have just tried to create a brand new maintenance dataset using different dates to which has also failed. In the "Create Maintenance Dataset" box i have created a new one called Tim Test 2 with the start date as 01/12/2001 and the end date as 29/06/2012... i am still getting the error "12/30/1899 is not a valid date".

I assume that you have mis-typed the start date on this post as opposed to in the software! If so then it looks like you do need to get Capita Support on to it via a new Support Case!
timbo343 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 nope thats how it is, its on the second page of the attached word document on one of my earlier posts. Thanks, i shall raise it this afternoon.
timbo343 Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 ok, next question, has anyone got the number for contacting capita support?
vikpaw Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 ok, next question, has anyone got the number for contacting capita support?01234 832020 Or email [email protected] Or log a case on supportnet 1

Do you get the same error as the original poster?
timbo343 Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 We managed to fix the problem by loading an earlier construction data set and then create a maintenance set from there. Everything seems to be working as planned now. Tim
