FN-GM Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 check this video out BBC News - Air France jet clips small plane at New York airport i though accidents like this where not supposed to be able to happen! Unfortunately we are only human and make mistakes. I just hope there where no ground workers working on the Delta Aircraft.
glennda Posted April 12, 2011 Author Report Posted April 12, 2011 Unfortunately we are only human and make mistakes. I just hope there where no ground workers working on the Delta Aircraft. i don't think that jet is on the stand yet its still taxing from the runway after landing - it could have been a big bang if the wing had ruptured as i'm sure it contained a hell of a lot of fuel! and yes i know we all make mistakes i do quite alot!
ZeroHour Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 When I was watching the video I thought the woman said "Con Air" lol Old Nicholas was in trouble again
FN-GM Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) When I was watching the video I thought the woman said "Con Air" lol Old Nicholas was in trouble again nearly, Comair - its a name Delta use for regional routes its also known as Delta Connection. The aircraft are branded with Delta. That was the operator of the small aircraft. Edited April 12, 2011 by FN-GM
localzuk Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 I'm guessing the people in the little plane were a little shook up from that! Not to mention, it shows the power of large jets if it can just spin another plane out the way as if it wasn't really there!
ZeroHour Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Com air - its a name Delta use for regional routes its also known as Delta Connection. The aircraft are branded with Delta. That was the operator of the small aircraft. Yeh I read the article a bit further but at the time I was confused
Little-Miss Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 I must be in a bad mood, but god some people have got an answer for everything.... 1

m25man Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Obviously none of you have ridden in a French Cab in Paris, clearly this is where the pilot gained his experience...
Andrew_C Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 That's why you should leave your belt on until you are told it is safe to take it off!
Butuz Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Why is that video sped up like something out of a carry on film???? Oh I know, I giess it makes it look much more dramatic for the beebs "sun" news teams. Butuz
Andrew_C Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I doubt that it is. It will have been filmed in NTSC, with what looks like it maybe a security type camera, at low light levels, probably at a low frame rate. I do wonder why the camera pans, unless it was under control of someone who saw what was about to happen.
adhutton Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Air France have a terrible safety record for a major airline. Avoid!
tommej Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 That's why you should leave your belt on until you are told it is safe to take it off! Oh nothing frustrates me more on planes than idiots getting up when the belt sign is on, or even when the plane has just landed and is taxi-ing. I just want to scream SIDDOWN!!!!!!!
FN-GM Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Oh nothing frustrates me more on planes than idiots getting up when the belt sign is on, or even when the plane has just landed and is taxi-ing. I just want to scream SIDDOWN!!!!!!! Its one of my pet hates. Also they all stand up annd get the stuff out, push around and the door hasnt even opened.
CESIL Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Why is that video sped up like something out of a carry on film???? Doesn't look speeded up to me...the plane seems to be moving at a normal taxiing as far as I can tell...
HallX Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Here's the RT, post #15 Air France jet clips smaller plane at New York's JFK airport - PPRuNe Forums
MK-2 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Oh nothing frustrates me more on planes than idiots getting up when the belt sign is on, or even when the plane has just landed and is taxi-ing. I just want to scream SIDDOWN!!!!!!! because don't you realise, these people paid for sun, and the closer they are to the door when the plane lands, the more chance of them catching the sun! by comparison, if you stay in your seat until instructed to leave, you will lose something like 18 seconds of sunshine, who will pay for that huh! that's lost sunshine right there. so it makes perfect sense to act like a complete t*at and all push to the door. and don't forget to turn your phone on the microsecond the wheels touch the ground, because when aunty joyce said let me know when you land ok, she meant it, she needs to hear the screech of the tyres to know you've landed ok, to hell with waiting until you are in the airport itself.
