imiddleton25 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Can anyone help with this as after 3 days on phone with Kyocera support they have no idea? I want to select letterhead as a paper type and source as cassette 2 but as soon as i select cassette ( any cassette) the type reverts to Auto and if i do the cassette first same problem. Does anyone have Kyocera printers that they could test this on please Have downloaded latest KX drivers but no difference Kyocera have no idea why or how to fix it very annoying
mstore Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Hi, Firstly can I ask why you need to specify letterhead? It may have something to do with associations of media types to trays. For example if tray 1 on the printer is programmed as plain but then in the driver you select letterhead then this can make the driver return to auto for the tray selection. I would suggest that you select the tray in the driver properties and ignore the media setting. If this works OK then it's possible that the cassette has been allocated to the wrong media type. I have some Kyocera's here that I can try it on let me know the model and I will see if I have the same issue. Regards, Ian Arena Group
imiddleton25 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 we have 1010 1020d 3800 5030 same on all reason we are looking at this is letter head paper is slightly thinker and having problems picking paper up so kyocera said change media type . as it does it on all our models i think its a bug in the driver and i expect it does it on all models
mstore Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 OK - two points on that; 1. If it's a pickup (rather than a jamming in the printer engine problem) then I doubt that the paper setting will have much impact on this (probably or dirty worn rollers). The paper setting tends to control the speed at which the media goes through the printer or the time spent in the fuser unit to bond the toner to the media. This helps prevents jamming or print quality issues once the media has reached the engine. 2. Try programming one of your devices media type - I have a 4020DN available, the menu structure may be slightly different but goes along the line of:- Menu, Paper Settings, Cassette 1, Type - set this to letterhead (presuming of course that letterhead is in tray 1). Then in the driver only specify letterhead and not the tray (like I said it's an either or setting and not intended to use both) - it should then pick up from the tray that has letterhead programmed against it. Good luck Arena Group
