Hiya,

I want to start introducing Win 7 clients onto my server 2003 domain. I've installed RSAT on a Windows 7 laptop to devise a GPO, but huge chunks of this policy aren't being implemented when I log-on as a student to my Win 7 test machine.

Does anyone know if this is because I don't have a 2008 DC on the domain? Has anyone attempted this and, if so, is there any advice you could give?

I've installed KB943729 (GPO extensions) on the Infrastructure Master, but I've not run the 2008 ADPREP tool yet.

Any help greatly appreciated

I have just bought 10 new machines with win 7 pro.

I installed RSAT on one main remote server (Which happens to be a client in our ict suite)

The Using Group Policy Administrator in the RSAT Pack (or something named similar) seems to pull the GPO's from the 2003 DC, integrate it with its own GPO including the win vista/7 GPO's and enforces.

Good thing I find is that once all your clients have logged in once and saved gpos to the system, the remote server/client does not need to be switched on to constantly remind them to enforce, unless you change anything.

Only problem is the jump from Luna XP to Win 7, so I enforced classic shell but that disables active desktop and any wallpaper with it. So i'm in a small dilemma of familiarity or shiney shiney pretty start bar. But that is minor.
