This is a true story as I think I've spoken to the actual guy via Twitter. A similar thing happened last year in the US where a guy left his Android in a shopping trolley and managed to track it down via the GPS logging software he'd enabled. Some fat chav had found it and decided to keep it. He gave her a hell of a shock when he turned up at her house and politely asked for his phone back!

I had a similar bit of software on my Magic. When I was in South Africa in February I swapped the Sim for an SA Vodacom sim. It locked the phone and emailed my girlfriend to say it had been stolen. Not much she could do but within about 15 minutes I managed to open it again and by-pass the software.

The moral would be 'get your phone nicked by a Chav'

Edit: Actually it was Wavesecure.

My dad manages to find phones all over the place when hes out in the market and on the bus so far :p we ring a number in the phone book like mom or aunty so and so and return it. One time it was an old boys mobile and he sent us a nice card and £5 to cover the postage another it was some half wit chav who gave us the wrong address to send it to and then accused us of stealing it! Its nice doing a good deed sometimes... :)
