Have to upgrade FMS in order to complete the EOY procedures!

That's what I have just been told by Capita after having queried it.

 

I saw in the release notes that there are some upgrades to the consistent financial reporting section... It now displays the correct year. Surely in order to complete your financial year you'd need this to display the correct year!

 

My only query is that... Nobody else seems to have noticed this and there hasn't been any information/notices posted on SupportNet about it. So, if we need to upgrade in order to carry out the financial end of year routines, why is nobody being told about it?

 

Or have some rather big bloomers become twisted somewhere along the way?

Our local capite Support Rep (i think thats the best way of putting it) send an e-mail to all the local schools about 2 days before easter telling us about this. Thankfuly were were on the Spring Relase test phase but.... 2 day notice is a bit daft.

And currently the update service is down!!!! Grrrr..... Been told it should be up by 1pm, but I was all gearing up this morning for it, did my backups, copied files over, etc, etc only to be told to wait!

We were told this a while back, and I did it a week or so ago - only took us about 10 minutes total.

When looking through the Spring release notes, I mentioned this to our finance dept and they weren't planning on doing the CFR until 30th April and were unfazed by this.

You don't need to upgrade FMS to close the financial year. The CFR requirements were issued in October for 2009/10 - the spring release updates the CFR return and the header in the XML file has been updated. You do need the spring release to produce the new CFR but that is not the same as closing the year. Usually the CFR is produced May/June after all the adjustments have been made.
