CHR1S Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 My admin server keeps going into thermal shutdown. I’ve stripped the server, cleaned the filters, fans and heat sink. I have checked the fans are spinning and producing air flow and they speed up when the server gets hot. Under the heaviest of load it hits 86c and restarts. I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s causing it to reach its upper limit as it all seems to be ok. Anyone got some ideas? Thanks
Mcshammer_dj Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 if you have any thermal glue then try removing the proc and cleaning the old glue off and then reseating
CHR1S Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 if you have any thermal glue then try removing the proc and cleaning the old glue off and then reseating Dont have any, see below is the heat sink seated properly on the cpu Yes, and its red hot to the touch so I think the efficiency of the thermal paste seems ok. The airflow over the CPU from the front 2 fans seems good and there is nothing blocking its path.
