I have set up a brand new Server 2003 Domain with 30 computer connected, they can all log on fine but I need to know how to set up the BT Buidness Total Broadband so every computer on the domain has internet accsess.

 

Any one help??

Yes, on the IP properties setup the default gateway to point to your router. Presuming you have a router or do you have a USB one? If you have a router disable DHCP on it doesn't give out bad addresses.

The easiest way to do it would be to get a second network card for your server. Put the BT broadband into that. Then buy a copy of ISA server and install that on your server so it can share the internet out amongst your client PCs. You also get a degree of control over when and what people can access on the Internet with ISA.

Thanks very much for the replies. I will config the default gatway on the server with the ip address of the router. Do I just connect the router to the Switch with a patch cable, simple as that???

Yes, also make sure your clients are getting the default gateway set from DHCP. You'll probably need to set it in the Scope options if you haven't already done so.

Thanks Geoff, I had a look but not to sure about were you saying to put the details in,

 

I went to DHCP on the domain and have the scopes, what do i do from there?

Surely thats a long way round. All they would have to do it plug the router in turn off DHCP and setup the IP config.

 

Your way they will need to buy ISA and a new NIC and it takes longer. Plus if the server is a DC MS recomend you don't use it as an ISA box as well.
