rush_tech Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Hi, does anybody know how to reset the system/bios password on a toshiba A100? proving to be a difficult one.
LeMarchand Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 You probably found this suggestion, but just in case... You used to be able to do it by rewiring a parallel connector on some of the Tosh's, but the A100 doesn't seem to have a parallel port!
rush_tech Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 cheers for the reply, we spent about 10 minutes looking for C88 on the board can I see it no:mad: point c87 and c89 see them fine
ChrisH Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I think I ahve the same problem with one of mine in the cupboard. I never did find a solution. All the guides seemed to point to a slightly different model.
OutToLunch Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I'm pretty sure last time I got locked out of one of our Toshibas there was one of the several CMOS reset utilities on the slightly iffy "Hiren's Boot CD" (google it) that successfully managed to nuke it.. Don't have one handy ATM to set the password then test it on but trial and error worked for me.
Edu-IT Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Ended up returning some of ours to Toshiba as there is a known fault where the BIOS sets its own password. Something like that anyway. I couldn't find a way to reset the password myself.
rush_tech Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 It looks like we have a expensive paper weight:doh:
