30 steps / 30 mins to install LAMP server using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS 64-bit edition

00. Download ISO from www.ubuntu.com and burn to cd.
01. Connect keyboard, monitor, network cable.
02. Switch on and insert cdrom.
03. Select language - English.
04. Choose from menu - install Ubuntu Server.
05. Choose install language - English
06. Select country - UK.
07. Select keyboard layout - GB
08. Select main network interface - where cable plugged in (eth0).
09. Allow dhcp detection - if fails redo step 09.
10. Enter hostname - eg. chhs-vle-001.
11. Detect NTP clock - (will most likely fail / dont care).
12. Select disk partition - guided entire disk.
13. Select drive - scsi1(2,0,0) (sda).
14. Confirm to write partition to disk - yes.
15. Administrator real name - System Administrator.
16. Username - sysadmin.
17. Password - xxxxxx.
18. Configure apt proxy - http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
19. Software selection - LAMP server + OpenSSH server.
20. MySQL root user password - xxxxxx.
21. Installation complete (hangs for 10 mins after mysql-server install ) - reboot.
22. Login - sysadmin/xxxxxx.
23. Edit network interface to be static
	sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces
	change 'iface eth0 inet dhcp' to 'iface eth0 inet static'
	add static address eg. 'address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
	add netmask eg. 'netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
	add gateway eg. 'gateway xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
	save (esc, :, w, q)
	restart network - sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
	check interface - ifconfig
24. Check apt working - sudo apt-get update.
	(if fails change /etc/apt/sources.list to another repo source eg. us not gb)
	cd /etc/apt	
	sudo cp sources.list sources.list.gb
	sudo vi sources.list
	change all uncommented lines from gb to us
	save (esc, :, w, q)
	sudo cp sources.list sources.list.us
25. Update system
	sudo apt-get update
	sudo apt-get upgrade
26. Install ftp server - sudo apt-get install pure-ftpd.
27. Check apache running - browse to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (add to proxy exceptionslist)-  'It Works!'.
28. Check SSH server running - ssh sysadmin@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx .
29. Check ftp running - ftp to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx sysadmin/xxxxxx. (admin user)
30. Check server secure - run nmap -A -T4 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (only ftp, ssh, http open).
