Known Bug

If your users do not have write acccess to HKLM, Fireworks will display an error at startup relating to 'Launch and Edit with Dreamweaver', until the application is launched by a user with write access to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Fireworks.exe

The issue is caused by the MSI creating the value as: C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Fireworks 8\ (derived from [INSTALLDIR]). Fireworks doesn't seem to like the \ at the end of the value. Since my install was always going to be installed to the same location, as it's a silent, per computer install, I transformed the MSI (by replacing the registry value of [INSTALLDIR] with C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Fireworks 8

If your deployment installdir will vary, then you'll probably need to write a script to remove the \ from the end of the registry value.

Flash Paper Printer Ports

When a user tries to print either by using the Flash Paper printer or by using the Office toolbar its hangs/freezes and fails to product the PDF or SWF document.

This is caused by other users logging on and the Flash Paper printer installs again, it makes a duplicate printer and moves the Flash Paper port to the new printer.

You will need to change the Flash Paper Printer to the correct Port. Follow the following steps to fix the problem.

1. Start > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes

2. Delete any duplicates of the Flash Paper printer if they exist.

3. On the Flash Paper printer Right Click > Properties

4. Click the "Ports" tab

5. Match the Flash Paper port to the Flash Paper printer using tick boxes.

6. Click OK and your all done!
