• The RM Neon Scripting Challenge - Terms and Conditions

    PROMOTER: RM Education Limited, New Mill House, 183 Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxon OX14 4SE (“RM”)

    1. The competition is organised by RM in association with EduGeek, an online peer support community and information portal for IT professionals.
    2. Entry to this competition is open to person who will be aged [insert] years and under on 10 February 2014 who are full time residents of the UK (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) except the children or close relatives of RM employees, employees of EduGeek, or the children or close relatives of any person closely connected with the competition. Proof of age, identity and eligibility may be requested.
    3. Entry will be in four categories – Can’t do without it, Because I can, Who done it? and School hero.
    4. Entrants must write a script written or wrapped in PowerShell version 3.0 and zipped.
    5. Entry is via a link on the EduGeek website. Entrants will be asked to provide their name, gender, region and their age. They must enter the script in the text box provided for submission. All scripts should be submitted in English.
    6. An adult will be required to approve the entry for anyone under the age of 18 and agree to these Terms and Conditions (including RM’s use of the script submitted) on behalf of the entrant, by way of a check-box in the online form. The adult may be the child’s parent, guardian or teacher. The adult must provide their own contact details (not the child’s) and the region in which the child lives.
    7. For the top 5 shortlisted entries, if permission to enter was given by a teacher, RM will contact the teacher and ask for confirmation of permission from the entrant’s parent or guardian.
    8. The personal data provided will be used for the purposes of administering the competition and in accordance with RM’s Privacy and Cookies Policy. RM will use the contact details provided by the adult to send general updates as to the progress of the competition by email.
    9. Entry opens on Monday, 10 January 2014. Entry closes on Monday, 31 March 2014 at 11:59pm.Submissions received outside of this timeframe will not be considered, so please do not wait until the last minute to upload your entry.
    10. There is no limit to the number of entries an entrant may submit, nor a limit to which categories the entrants must submit under.
    11. Entries must be an original script and not a copy of a script already in existence. If you are unclear on whether the content of the script contradicts these Terms and Conditions email the competition administrators at rmneon@rm.com.
    12. Entries cannot be returned so please remember to retain a copy. Unsuccessful entrants will not be contacted in respect of their entry and no feedback on any entry will be provided.
    13. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. RM accepts no responsibility if entrants ignore these Terms and Conditions and entrants agree to indemnify RM against any claim by any third party from any breach of these Terms and Conditions.
    14. Entries must not contain defamatory, obscene, offensive, or any other unsuitable material. Entries must be suitable to be published or used online by RM for audiences of all ages, but in particular for a child audience.
    15. Entrants retain the copyright in their entries but grant to RM a perpetual non-exclusive royalty-free licence to publish, broadcast (across all media) and post the entry online and on any other platforms yet to be envisaged, including in the RM Neon script library. This licence will be deemed to include all the necessary rights and permissions to enable such use by RM, to fulfil the prizes and to complete the administration of this competition.
    16. By submitting a script the entrant agrees that RM may at its sole discretion edit, adapt, abridge or translate the script for the purposes listed in clause 15 above.
    17. A selected panel of experts across RM and EduGeek will judge the entries and their decision will be final.
    18. Prizes will be awarded to one finalist in each category: The winner in each category will win a Minecraft-themed gift. An overall winner will be chosen and they will also win a Sony PlayStation 4 and a year’s subscription to RM Neon for their school.
    19. The parents or guardians of the top successful entrants will be contacted by a member of RM on or before Friday, 11 April 2014, further proof of age, identity and eligibility may be requested at this stage. Winners will be announced on the EduGeek website on Monday, 14 April 2014.
    20. Prizes will be given to the winners before 30th April 2014.
    21. RM's decision as to each stage of this competition and the finalists in each category is final. No correspondence will be entered into if the decision is challenged.
    22. RM reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these Terms and Conditions, or to withhold a prize if in its opinion entries do not reach the required standard.
    23. RM reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
    24. RM, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries, agencies and/or any other organisation associated with this competition cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, Internet access, system or otherwise which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered or recorded. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
    25. By entering the free draw in this way you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions and you will therefore be legally bound by them.
    27. The prize per category is a Minecraft-themed gift. An overall winner will be chosen and they will also win a Sony PlayStation 4 and a year’s subscription to RM Neon for their school. The description used is only a representation, RM reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equal or greater value.
    28. There is no cash alternative available, the prizes are non-transferable and are subject to availability.
    29. Prizes can only be delivered to a valid UK address.
    30. Except in the case of death or personal injury arising from its negligence or in respect of fraud and so far as is permitted by law, RM exclude responsibility and all liabilities arising from any postponement, cancellation, delay or changes to the prize details beyond their control and for any act or default of any third-party supplier.
    31. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
