Here is the reg setting to disable the message on clients in the meantime.

      Code:
      Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\SAVService\Application]
      "DisableEndOfLifeMessaging"=dword:00000001

what is the easiest way to push this setting out?
an example of a startup script would be great

or can it be done via gpo?

      any help would be great

The article mentions how to push out the change to all clients using the share that they update from. That may be the easiest way.

I have created an adm file to do this through group policy, just copy and paste the below into notepad and save as a .adm

      CLASS MACHINE

      CATEGORY "Sophos"

      POLICY "Disable Sophos Expiry Msg"

      KEYNAME "SOFTWARE\Sophos\SAVService\Application"
EXPLAIN "This policy disables the expiration of sophos 7 messages"
      VALUENAME "DisableEndOfLifeMessaging"
      VALUEON NUMERIC 1
      VALUEOFF NUMERIC 0

      END POLICY

      END CATEGORY

that adm didn't work for me. I used reg2adm to remake it and got this instead, which does work:

      CLASS MACHINE
      CATEGORY SOFTWARE\Sophos\SAVService
      POLICY Application
      KEYNAME SOFTWARE\Sophos\SAVService\Application
      PART DisableEndOfLifeMessaging NUMERIC
      VALUENAME "DisableEndOfLifeMessaging"
      END PART
      END POLICY
      END CATEGORY

Sorry if this is a bit of a simpletons question but what do I do with the adm file in AD. At home at moment so cant have a look. Presume I just import it from the File menu and it then affects all users or do I have to do it with individual GPO's?

How did you run the reg setting with a startup script, any chance of a copy of the script?
