Perhaps he means that for some people, who have to justify trips out to the management, the topics of the conference were not announced in time to arrange things?

It is a shame, but we can't publish speakers until they have finally confirmed with us first.

I think Ric\Russ is sorting out a live stream and recording. We'll put it on our YouTube account as long as the camera used has a common file format (I'm looking at you here Russ )
In fact my brother has a HD camera. If I just ask him nicely.......

You could also use the broadcast slideshow bit in PowerPoint 2010 to do this quite easily.

With the current government likely to scrap BECTA and it's FITS stuff and BSF also for the chop - won't the speakers be a bit light on material now?

The FITS Foundation is a separate body run as a not-for-profit group and will not be affected by any changes other than possible changes to the Governing Body which contains reps from Becta. BSF is run through Partnership for Schools, but Becta's input into the educational technology aspect is quite large, so it may be that some of that is brought 'in-house' by PfS ... it all depends on the future structure of BSF, not to do with Becta.
