• Some changes for quote requests

Due to reports of some non-sponsor companies guessing members work addresses and numbers and basically spam calling/emailing from quote request posts we have decided to create a "Quote Requests" forum which is members only.
When you create a post there only you and our sponsors will see it and only sponsors will be able to respond, moderators can not see your posts currently. No other members of edugeek will be able to inspect your quotes.
The other requirement the forum has is a minimum of 1 posts before you can enter.

So now to create a quote request for our sponsors go to:
    Quote Requests

We may change this back in the future based feedback but if we do we will let you know in advance.

If you have been contacted about a quote request on the forum by direct email/call please report any details you can to the Message the Admins to allow us to figure the size of the problem.

Well its a whole new type of spam anyway

Yeh it is, but there are a few benefits. It means now when you post asking for a quote its private and everyone doesnt know your in the market for x or y which some dont like and also something a robk mentioned was if you order a lot of kit and people can figure out where you are its a thief's dream.

I think it will be met by approval from the sponsors too. They'll be pleased their captive market isn't being targetted. When I first read this, I hadn't thought of the "Thief's dream", but it is a very good point!

If I created a thread in the new forum, would I need to remember to subscribe to it for it to be drawn to my attention, or will appear in the "New Posts" list anyway?

I think it's a great idea! It feels like I've had to report a lot of people recently trying to "steel". Quite annoying!

      Thanks

It for that reason that whenever we get large deliveries, I always take the cardboard to the local recycling centre myself instead of putting it into the normal bins. As we're a fairly rural school, the possibility of a break in is quite high and we have had equipment stolen over the years.

Falsely accused of hacking on Steam.

I'm sure it will be Ok! It all depends if the server you was playing on had VAC enabled. Also that VAC is controlled by Valve and is automatic.

Spec me a game to play over xmas

The only problem with this is that it's not true. Xbox Live isn't cheap. Plenty of great PC games that are free to play online and work on older hardware.
