Well, this book is becoming quite a chore. I was initially drawn to the book because of large number of its quotes sprinkled throughout the net. It seems to be one of those modern classics which everybody should read.
Perhaps it is, but I find the characters cold and one dimensional. They seem to be a vehicle for Rand's political views, which on the face of it seem to have some merit, but recent events have proven laissez faire market forces immoral and prone to implode. I haven't even
(Almost) half way through Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
What an enormous book.
That is all.
Well, I've finally finished Dune.
I bought the book in the Summer of 1993 (my final year of uni.)
Finally got around to finishing it after 16 years.
Anyway...
A fantastically well written book, one of those genuinely exciting books, but the ending - what a disappointment! It just stops.
Playing guitar tonight with some friends in an Open Mic night. Don't really know the songs that well, really hoping I can wing it.
Big PA system, fully mic'ed up. No room for error. This could go badly wrong.
Sigh. When will it stop?
I know being near the coast in Welsh Wales doesn't help, but all it does is rain! I think we've had about 4 good weekends this year.
Note for next year: if it's a good Easter, blow all my leave then - 'cos summer's likely to be cack.
