  1. @duxbuz

    I gave up on Thinstation in the end because it didn't seem to be compatabile with the graphics cards I was using. I found though, that when I was building the thinstation files from thinstation-o-matic, I wasn't editting the build files correctly to pull the network.conf, so even though it existed it didn't try to read it.

    I'll see if I can find the old conf files and put them up for you.

    SESSION_0_TYPE=rdesktop
    SESSION_0_SCREEN=1
    SESSION_0_SCREEN_POSITION=2
    SESSION_0_RDESKTOP_SERVER=x.x.x.x
    SESSION_0_RDESKTOP_OPTIONS="-u user -p password -a 16"
    SESSION_0_AUTOSTART=Off

    with:

    NET_USE_DHCP=On
    #NET_IP_ADDRESS=192.168.0.1
    #NET_MASK=255.255.255.0
    #NET_GATEWAY=192.168.0.254
    #NET_DHCP_DELAY=30
    NET_FILE_ENABLED=On
    NET_FILE_METHOD=tftp
    #NET_FILE_USER=needed_for_scp_only

    #NET_DNS1=192.168.0.2
    #NET_DNS2=192.168.0.3
    #NET_DNS_SEARCH=cartoons.org.nz

    Any pointers?

    Thanks

A Useful WSUS Script

by Cache on 17th August 2010 at 10:53 PM
All my computers on WSUS are currently sitting in Unassigned apart from the Servers which has worked quite well - until now.

I want to control the Roll Out of XP SP3 to computers so that I can make my way arround them using WSUS without cause people any major problems because someone shuts the computer down, it starts to install and then the computer is needed for the next lesson.

The Answer I thought - create a sub group of computers!

One snag - Unassigned

The joys of migrating files

by Cache on 12th June 2010 at 03:04 PM
It's funny, I don't usual blog and tend to pop on Edugeek with problems but it's a great resource and one I'm very pleased to have found (otherwise I think by now I'd have given up all hope, especially after the last couple of weeks).

But the latest problem, how to migrate a load of files, preserve permissions and do it dead easily.

I've used Robocopy with the GUI in the past to move files and it worked a dream, however for whatever reason (probably me being dumb) I
