I know exactly what you are saying.. I have gone the extra step of customising the teachers notebook to only have certain computers added (via the XML file).. and hide the side toolbar!
Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it but I think this way works so much easier if we (as an IT department) set up teachers pc's to selected computer labs
On an unrelated manner, have you ever tried to cross compile iTalc before?
Hi sorry for late reply you sent that at beginning of half term.
I've always had problems with getting the admin keys to work so the way I did it was to have the rooms in a seperate globalconfig.xml file that was read only for the teachers of a specific room plus one for myself with all the rooms in.
The registry key needs to be modified on the teacher computers so as to give them the correct room.
Once you have the rooms set out in your config files. (Say RoomAconfig.xml and RoomA+Bconfig.xml) the registry key you need to modify is located at HKLM\Software\ITalc Solutions\ITalc\paths. (You may need to create the paths key but you can then export it and just run the .reg file for any teacher after)
Add a string value called globalconfig and set it to \\server\share\RoomAconfig.xml or \\server\share\RoomA+Bconfig.xml.
Hope this helps as it's quite awkward to explain. If you need further help i can try and get some screen grabs to help explain it
