Highly recommended: Leadership for Network Managers Programme
Had the delightful company of the YHGfL guys today for their 'Leadership for Network Managers' programme, and honestly cannot sing it's praises enough (and am frankly baffled as to why it hasn't been pimped on here by Mr Yoward previously). This is the first truly useful bit of CPD training that I've ever attended. Covers items that EVERYONE working in or with IT in schools really needs to know regarding impact of OFSTED eSafeguarding framework, Digital Economy Bill, your legal responsibilities towards Data Protection, and much much more, and hammers home the point of why this stuff HAS to be taken seriously at ALL levels within schools, now moreso than ever. The three half-day programme condenses down brilliantly into a one day version for a small group of 10 or so, although to do it real justice get SLT & Governors in on it as well as your entire IT Support team, and give it a day n' a half (possible weekend at a conference venue?) as the discussions that arise during it are fascinating, and eye opening. Failing that, it's standard format is 3x half days.
Huge thanks to Andy Yoward (Technical Services head honcho), Richard Brook (Information Security specialist) and Rob Bashforth (Bradford eSafeguarding guru) for taking our IT team and guests from neighbouring schools' teams through it today. Look forward to meeting up again to delve deeper...
