    Exclamation Email Problems

    Dear Colleagues,

There is an issue with some of our IP addresses which has been flagged up for a virus on the network. This is however affecting our entire network range, rather than just the IP addresses which have the infection.

Unfortunately, every time someone, somewhere gets an infection, it automatically blocks our entire network range from emailing any schools which use some email providers.

We are working with the email providers to separate the blocking of our email servers, as the IP addresses associated with email delivery are clean and free of viruses.

We are asking all of our schools ensure that all machines on their network are virus free, as there are some machine(s) in school(s) within our network are broadcasting virus traffic which is why some of our public IP addresses are getting blacklisted meaning that others are unable to send mail.

To do this, you can download a handy tool for virus removal on YHGfL Foundation SOPHOS Repository called "Sophos virus removal tool.exe" to run on your Windows PCs and Servers to assist you in this process.

Can you please make sure that you are using SMTP.yhgfl.net for all SMTP traffic into and out of the grid. For schools which are not doing this, they may be experiencing issues as the YHGfL mail relays are not blacklisted.

    Kind Regards

    Dear Colleagues,

The issue we were experiencing with emails to some schools being blocked have now been resolved.

We did this by fixing the incorrect routing of email messages for the affected domains so they were sent out from the correct mail relay devices.

    Kind regards
