Lost Wireless AP
OK, so my predecessor placed a Wireless AP somewhere in an outer building in our school. The connection has become intermittent and we need to replace...but can we find it? Nope
Does anyone have any method/software/workarounds to physically locate this phantom AP.
Thanks
Nick

Re: Lost Wireless AP
NetStumbler on a laptop will detect each AP and give you the signal strength. Obviously as you get closer it'll get stronger. A technique I had to use earlier this year when the school plans where laughably incorrect/non-existent.
EDIT
I believe WiFiFoFum for PocketPC will also do a similar job as NetStumbler but I've never used.
I suppose the choice comes down to whether you have a PDA avaliable for the job (lighter) or can make do carrying around a laptop/tablet.

Re: Lost Wireless AP
cheers! i suspected as much, but never having used it i wasn't sure it would be any more helpful than the wonderfully vague 5 green bars in XP

Re: Lost Wireless AP
What about something like this?

I've never used one myself but I've heard they're pretty good.
