who still uses an analogue modem

Heh,
I've just had to buy a new USB Modem... for the same reason as stated above, finance, blah, Barclays Business manager.

I keep saying "internet banking" to them, but nothing ever happens.

Still some modems here - NASA JPL uses one to connect with some hardware we have (they have a proper internet connection but the modem is there as backup!)

Our new EMC Celerra array turned up with its own Modem. It's there as a backup connection should something go wrong with the array so EMC can remote in out of hours :)

Well OK the modem is still technically sitting in a box in my office until we move the phone system to the new server room :p
