branching on this topic, I want to set up 2 seperate networks, both on wireless, both with DHCP, but on different IP ranges. how would I set it up so that it picks up the specific set?
Set 1 would be 10.9.25.x (Staff network)
Set 2 would be 10.10.25.x (Curriculum network)
Also this would have to be able to work on netbooks (Acer Aspire Ones based upon linpus linux).
Any help appreciated
@nephilim: Use two SSIDs that each have their own VLAN. Each VLAN will contain its own DHCP server.
can i get 2 SSIDs on ruckus equipment?
Yes you can have mutiple SSID's on the Ruckus Equipment
Zone Director 1000 - Up to 8
Zone Director 3000 - Up to 8

I can confirm that the Ruckus is fine with VLANS and multiple SSIDs, I had the kit at one place setup with 3 SSIDs - Admin, Curriculum and Guest, each on its own VLAN to route to 3 different sources - Admin Network, Curriculum Network and the Guest went straight to the ADSL router and they each had there own DHCP Server on them and it all worked well :)

Can they all be on WPA / WPA2 and handle the traffic of around 130 wireless items (phones, laptops, some PCs)?

We have a Ruckus ZoneDirector 1000 with the 7952 Access Points... i know the feature request has been asked many times on the Ruckus forums for having a built in DHCP for the different VLANS and I'm also aware that a feature request to better handle forward proxing on guest networks has been asked for but none of these features have yet made it into a firmware release.
What's the best way we can move on and get this working with what we already have... our server is Windows 2003

you could achieve it by using seperate VLANS on different subnet addresses, however you will have to have something routing traffic to the proxy server and then it depends if it support transparent proxy or wether the settings have to be entered into Internet Explorer. You'll also need to do some ACL's on the router to ensure that traffic from the guest network can't communicate with anything other than the proxy server in the admin network.
We achieved this by using a second proxy for guest/student and resident networks that was then connected to an optional interface on the firewall, ensuring seperation right to the edge of the network. the only thing that can see both the college network and the guest/.student/resident network is a multihomed server which does DHCP and DNS for the guest/resident/student networks. We did have this working with Ruckus originally with no problems as all the config is done in the switches etc. With my current Aerohive kit i can also force http traffic to a proxy if required. but my Bloxx device does transparent so not needed. your firewall may also be able to force the Http proxy??
