Internet Issue on a few devices
Hoping someone can shed some light on this..
Students/staff cannot access the Internet on a few PC's, laptops around the school on (Windows XP SP2)
The server is a windows 2003 running DHCP.
Easily fixed I thought, checked the proxy on each PC/laptop, logged as local admin, restart, no joy.
Internal addresses do not work either (the VLE, Intranet)
Users can access the domain, access their work area/shared area, but no Internet. Can get an IP Address, same subnet as all other PC's.
PC's are only a handful and a couple of laptops.
I have rebuilt one of the PC's, the Internet works, add to the domain, the internet works, rename and run SSID, restart the PC no Internet (???)
Restart again and Internet works
Log off and surprise surprise no Internet
The image has been working fine for the past 6 months, no new updates or software has been issued, GPO has not changed.
Scanned with Sophos, no errors issues.
Possible solutions could be
corrupted profiles (we use roaming profiles)
Small broadcast storm on the network
Working on the ideas above but any ideas/suggestions are most welcome.
Thanks in advanced
EDIT - Right, rebuild one PC from an image, reloaded IE about 6 times and it seems to work. Logg of user and log back in and no Internet.
Reload IE about 6 times and it works!!
