RM EasyMail Plus to Exchange 2007 - Microsoft Transporter Suite
Just wondering if anyone else has come across Microsoft's Transporter Suite? It effectively allows you to migrate emails from IMAP4/POP3 accounts into Exchange 2007 Mailboxes (which may, or may not already exist).
I've tested it with one of my own mailboxes and it does indeed work (even keeps the status of messages - whether they've been read or not etc.). However, I can't make it work with RM's EasyMail Plus accounts. Whatever I do it always says "POP3Client Failed to Login Successfully". I know the login details are correct, since I can manually telnet to the pop3 server with no difficulties.
The only thing I can see is that the RM POP3 server is actually a POP3 Proxy server - it responds to the initial connection with a line similar to this:
+OK POP3 PROXY server ready (7.2.064.1) <A3155A882B11ED04CC9ABCF01AC3B20B2A60DB47@ems01.ea symail.th.ifl.net>
Whereas my own POP3 server responds with simply this:
+OK Hello there.
I've emailed the RM SEGfL people about this, but if anyone else can shed any light on it, it'll save me having to manually transfer 100+ staff members' inboxes. :p
After a bit more experimenting, it looks like IMAP will be the way to go - although for some reason the LEA currently appear to have IMAP blocked on the firewall, so I'll have to chase the relevant people. IMAP will actually bring over all the other folders too (POP3 just does the inbox).
