Currently editting ict support section on our portal what ideas have people got for its contents.
At moment got the follow standard ideas: -
-Link into helpdesk
-Page showing status of the network
-page showing status of certain external services
-Section for laptops
is this so people can see from home?
Yes idea is we have an RM Portal install (sharepoint) and idea is to provide an ict support area which is place to bring everything together for staff.
So as well as standard help docs etc we will have links into our helpdesk, network status and status of various other services.
So looking for ideas of other things might be useful to have there.
How about FAQs (if not already in the helpdesk) and perhaps a facility to find where varying key software is installed (such as Web Design tools in 1516 or similar) and where the colour printers and other such devices are.
how about a page that lists what software is installed i each teaching room, and a perhaps a short tutorial for certain software that isnt user freindly. also any known issues the kids/staff, may have with software hardware explaining what to if x or y happens.
a list of who has not returned there network/internet/email policy, internet, email, printer ban list for staff to quickly see at a glance if certain user A is banned from anything
FAQs with Wink videos for common tasks are always good.
A list of open source/free software used in school and how to obtain it is handy so that home users are able to use the same applications as they do in school.
