You can I haven't done it on a 2900 but it is normally done by hitting the break key when reseting the router (while your conected via console connection) and typing "confreg" at the promt
it depends on the model of the switch, but to be able to reset the passwords you do have to be connected to the switch via console cable.
I had to reset a 2950 switch yday and to get into that you had to hold the mode button while you powered up.
depending on the model there is a way to reset the password for priviledge user mode.
If you are buying second hand, make sure that the console cable is supplied with the switch, unless you can get your hands on one easily
Ohhh yes i've had to do this a few times before. The 2924-EN-XLs i bought off ebay all had passwords still on them.

This isnt a dig btw, but what you will find is that googling for the answer usually works with cisco kit cause their online knowledge base is very good.
That result comes up by googling "password reset cisco 2900" :)
Thanks, I didn't opt for buying that one i got one were all the factory settings were restored. But i have got a tutorial video here on how to do it here, its to big to upload so if anyone will like it PM me with your E-mail.
PS: Joedetic i got the same switch as you.
Yes you can..and if you have done your CCNA then the answer is also in the books! As others have said in this day and age google is your friend!
