I have a room at home (spare bedroom) which is sort of a office. I have pc, laptop, xbox and PlayStation and i want to be able to have thee all linked upt o the Internet. I currently just put the cable modem directly into the one i use but this is becoming a right pain,
I just want a basic cable/dsl router for my broad band connection so i can keep all four devices plugged in and keep my cabling tidy. I am on Virgin BB.
Can anyone recommend a good one, I also need to mention that i do not need or want wireless router.

I'd go with Netgear as well.

I've been using a Linksys WRT54GC. The only problem i've had with it is that you cant forward a port that's different on the WAN to the LAN.
As in, you can have port 80 forwarded to port 80 at an ip address. But you cant have port 8080 forwarded to port 80 at an IP Address.
I've had to setup NAT on a Cisco 2610 for temporary port translation when i need it.

I use an IPCop box and a switch. You probably have an old box and switch lying around that you could use.

I use Buffalo at home, works well and not failed once.
I recommend getting the Linksys WRT54G with the firmware hack.

I've set a bunch of those that Dos_box mentioned up for people. They're great. I guess this is the non-adsl modem, non-wireless version.

had 2 linksys wireless WRT54GS and had problems with them failing after 10 months. Luckily PC world let me choose an alternative one.
I now have a negear one and it performs better than the linksys. I would find with the old one if would vary in speeds. The netgear is constant at 54mbps
