310 kids, 40 staff, my backup is reaching 60 gig. Is this excessive?

Full backup of my main server 180gb.
Ben
Mine is sitting at about 600Gb, 990 pupils / 90 staff.
Departments folders take up most of that though!
690 kids 60 staff lots of IT Services data and my own crazy sized user area 750gb.
Wes
850 Kids, 100 Staff = 200Gb - just their home folders
I can only dream of my backup being 60Gb!
Approaching 190Gb - takes around 6 hours

600 kids, ~40 staff on the system, full backup is 180GB (that includes SIMS, home folders, public areas etc...)
Oh, and this backup takes around an hour.
375Gb in 4 hours - 1500 Students, 100 Staff.
Pupil HD 290 GB
Staff HD 270gb
Student resources svr 180gb
Not to mention the other stuff we have to back up over a week.
1500 kids 200 staff
Averages out a 1.2tb data to be backed up

8O What have you got in there?? My area comes to about 10GB or so...Originally Posted by wesleyw
1.2TB is more space than i have on all my servers lol... main file server about 30gb, accounts/acdemic 90gb, email 10gb rest dont get backed up... terrible i know![]()
1500 kids and 350GB but desperatly need more backup space as we alternate some bits.
205 for servers and user data (user data is around 150gb) 100 staff 1000 students. File quotas are very useful. I will not throw around large amounts of space when I *know* most of it is full of crap.
Easy to back then too![]()
Full backup including all user data, common area etc is just over 500GB
1700 students, 200 staff
So not too bad actually
I do however have various restrictions to stop students saving any video + audio files in their areas, and I viciously exclude any similar files the staff have stored from the backup![]()
Full backup of everything, 1200 students, 130 staff, just over 1TB.
