    Hi James

Thanks for that - but how do you get around the student devices that could be virus / malware infected. on your netweork? Do you check them, could they infect any other user with devices on your student network?

How many devices have come on to the student network?

    Thanks

    Chris

Because of the Aerohive built in Firewall the students traffic can only pass HTTP/HTTPS/FTP over the network (no CIFS/WMI/ect) there are very few routes onto what you might call 'the network'.
Our internet goes through our Forefront TMG 2010 server which does active inspection of the data that flows across it including malware scanning.

I guess some virus that propagates over HTTP/HTTPS/FTP would be able to infect another students device but I'm not immediately aware of any that work like that.

We've got over 100 students signed up to it (1/8th of our student population) no clue how many we've had for students on at any given time but we've never had any bandwidth problems.
